Tensive Effects – Product Safety Information

IMPORTANT! READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USE.

Your safety and the longevity of your Tensive Effects pedal are important to us. Please read and understand the following safety information before operating your pedal. Failure to follow these safety instructions may lead to product damage, damage to other equipment, personal injury, or damage to property. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tensive Effects shall not be liable for any such damage or injury resulting from non-adherence to the safety information provided herein.

1. Electrical Safety

Power Supply Unit (PSU):

  • Correct Specifications: ALWAYS use a power supply unit (PSU) with the correct specifications as set out in your product's owner's manual and as available in the product information on the Tensive Effects website.
  • The primary concern is using the correct voltage and polarity (e.g., centre-negative).
  • The PSU must be capable of supplying at least the current (mA) required by your pedal.
  • Using an incorrect PSU can severely damage your pedal and the PSU, and is a fire hazard.
  • This damage is not covered by warranty.

Damaged PSU/Cords:

Do not operate your pedal with a damaged PSU, power cord, or plug. If the PSU or its cord is damaged, replace it immediately with a unit that meets the specified requirements.

Phantom Power:

Ensure that any cables connected to your Tensive Effects unit (especially from mixers, audio interfaces, or other studio equipment) DO NOT have +48V phantom power enabled. Phantom power can cause immediate and permanent damage to your pedal. This damage is not covered by warranty.

Accessibility:

Position your PSU so that it is easily accessible and can be quickly unplugged if necessary.

Powering On/Off & Connections:

To prevent sudden loud noises or electrical surges that may cause damage to hearing, speakers, or other equipment:

  • Always turn OFF all devices in your audio signal chain (including amplifiers, mixers, and other pedals) BEFORE making or changing any connections to or from your Tensive Effects unit.
  • Ensure your amplifier is turned OFF or its volume is fully down BEFORE powering your Tensive Effects unit ON or OFF.

Internal Access & Modification:

  • No User-Serviceable Parts Inside: Your Tensive Effects unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
  • Do Not Open: Opening the enclosure of your pedal can expose you to the risk of electric shock (especially if inadvertently connected to power) and can damage sensitive electronic components.
  • Unauthorised opening or modification of the unit will void your warranty.

Fuses & Batteries:

Your Tensive Effects unit does not contain any user-accessible fuses or internal batteries for operation.

Lightning Storms:

During an electrical storm, or if the unit will be unused for extended periods, unplug the power supply unit from the mains power outlet to prevent damage due to lightning and power line surges.

2. Operating Environment & Physical Handling

Liquids & Moisture:

Keep your Tensive Effects unit away from all liquids and sources of moisture. Do not operate in wet conditions or expose it to rain, splashes, or condensation. Spills can cause severe damage and electrical hazards.

Temperature & Sunlight:

  • Operate your pedal within a reasonable temperature range (e.g., 0°C to 40°C or 32°F to 104°F).
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
  • Avoid leaving the pedal in direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this can cause overheating or damage to the finish.

Ventilation:

While most pedals are sealed, if your unit has any ventilation openings, ensure they are not blocked to allow for proper air circulation.

Dust & Dirt:

Operate in a relatively clean environment. Excessive dust or dirt can potentially affect switches and potentiometers over time.

Physical Shock & Impact:

  • Avoid subjecting your Tensive Effects unit to heavy shock, such as dropping it or placing heavy objects on it.
  • Allow sufficient space between pedals on your pedalboard to prevent accidental stomping on knobs, switches, or adjacent controls, which could cause damage.

Cable Management:

  • Secure cables properly to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Ensure that cables connected to your Tensive Effects unit are not under excessive strain, which could damage the jacks or plugs on the pedal or the cables themselves.

Placement:

Always place your pedal on a flat, stable surface to prevent it from falling or being accidentally kicked.

3. Cleaning

  • Clean your Tensive Effects unit using only a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
  • Do NOT use solvents, alcohol, abrasives, or any other chemical cleaning agents, as these can damage the finish, labels, or components of your pedal.
  • Ensure the unit is disconnected from power before cleaning.

4. Hearing Safety

Effects pedals can significantly alter the volume and characteristics of your instrument's signal. Always start with your amplifier volume at a low level when first using a new pedal or sound setting, and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level to protect your hearing from sudden loud sounds.

5. Servicing

If your Tensive Effects unit requires servicing, please refer to our Product Warranty Terms and Conditions and contact us at support@tensiveeffects.com. All servicing should be performed by Tensive Effects or qualified service personnel authorised by us.

6. Responsible Disposal

When your Tensive Effects unit reaches the end of its life, please dispose of it responsibly in accordance with your local e-waste and recycling regulations. Do not dispose of it with general household waste.
